Super Airwolf (スーパーエアーウルフ Su:pa: Ea:urufu), released in the United States as CrossFire, is a scrolling shooter video game based on the American television series Airwolf. Developed by A.I. Corporation for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis gaming platform in 1991.
The game is a scrolling shooter with levels-locations. The graphic design uses the "top view" traditional for games of this genre, as well as the isometric projection method.
According to the plot, the main character confronts the armies of evil, trying to take over the world.
The gameplay is roughly as follows. First, the player, driving a Bell 222A helicopter, goes through one of the levels (in Guatemala, Cuba and Panama); then the helicopter descends and flies over the enemy base. After that, the pilot of the car, once at this base, frees the hostage hidden somewhere in the building. Then the air mission begins again, where you need to get to the boss at the end of the level and destroy it.
The helicopter can attack with a machine gun and also drop bombs. The pilot is armed with a machine gun that fires in a sinusoidal trajectory.
Enemies in the game - fighters, helicopters, tanks and ships; in the bases, the character is confronted by soldiers, cannons, and (sometimes) small tanks.
Useful items in the game are found both during air missions and at bases. They increase the power of the helicopter's fire and replenish the supply of bombs; picking up a walkie-talkie, the pilot can, while at the base, call a helicopter. Also, with the money collected at the levels, you can replenish ammunition or buy new weapons in the store.
