Pokémon Edición Oro y Edición Plata (in English: Pokémon Gold Version & Silver Version), known in Japan as Pocket Monsters Kin & Gin (ポケットモンスター 金・銀 Poketto Monsutā Kin & Gin?, lit. Gold and Silver Pocket Monsters), are the second installment in the series of Pokémon video games, in the RPG genre, developed by the Japanese company Game Freak and published by Nintendo for its Game Boy Color portable console and for Nintendo 3DS on the Virtual Console, but also in physical format with a download code. The games have dual connection capability, as they can be played on both the Color and monochrome Game Boy consoles. However, the Pokémon Crystal version does not possess that duality. The titles were first released in Japan in 1999, in Australia and the United States in 2000, and in Europe in 2001. Crystal, a special edition of the previous two games, was released approximately a year later in each of the mentioned regions. In 2009, the games were remade for the Nintendo DS system, being called Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

The games contain a hundred new types of Pokémon, and both follow the story that the protagonist has in the fictional region called Johto to become a Pokémon Master; likewise the name of the player can be chosen, and also their sex, but the latter only in the Crystal version. The titles are independent of each other although they have the same plot; Although both titles can be played separately, Pokémon must be traded between them apart from using the backward compatibility they have with previous games in the series, in order to complete the game's Pokédex. The Johto saga of the anime series is based on the new story offered by the games.

Pokémon Gold and Silver continued the success started by their predecessors, turning Pokémon into a multi-million dollar franchise. The games almost equaled Pokémon Red and Blue in sales, plus they managed to sell millions of copies around the world.
