Pokemon - Edicion Oro also called "Pokémon Gold Edition", "Pokémon Silver Edition" and "Pokémon Crystal Edition", with these games a total of 100 more Pokémon were added to the previously catchable ones, through the appearance of a new region (Johto). In the fall of 2009, Nintendo released the remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver, Pokémon Gold HeartGold and Pokémon Silver SoulSilver.

The Gold Pokémon cover teaches Ho-Oh, the Silver Pokémon Lugia, the main legendary Pokémon from the first two editions. In Pokémon Crystal, instead, Suicune, one of the three legendary Dogs, is given the prominence of appearing on cover.

In them, it is Professor Elm who makes delivery of the initial Pokémon (Chikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile), to the player and not Professor Oak as in Pokémon Red, Blue and Pokémon Yellow, though this one also makes an appearance with just starting the game asking you the time, name and gender (in Crystal). In addition, it has a program on the radio (another innovation built-in with respect to the first generation).

Another of the innovations is the Pokégear (Pokémon Gear), multifunction device (incorporates mobile phone, map, radio) that in later editions would be replaced by the Pokénav. This has to be on time, because another of the new factors introduced is the difference in play whether it is day or night.

The games sold a total of 23.1 million copies, not counting the Crystal version.
