Pokémon Rojo and Pokémon Azul (Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue in English, ポケットモンスター 赤 Pocket Monsters Aka and ポケットモンスター青 Pocket Monsters Ao in Japanese) are the first two Pokémon games that were released to the Western market for the Game Boy handheld console and later the It was released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop on February 27, 2016. These games use the engine and graphics of the Japanese game Pokémon Blue, although the availability of Pokémon corresponds to the Japanese editions of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green (the first two Pokémon games).

The term edition/version is due to the fact that both games are almost identical. Its only difference in broad strokes is the availability of Pokémon, since each version presents 11 exclusive creatures that do not appear in the other edition. This is a feature that would carry over into all subsequent Pokémon titles.

This game features the original 151 Pokémon that would later be called "the first generation."
