Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is a video game based on the TV series of the same name which was released on the Mega Drive/Sega Genesis.

This version is a one-on-one competitive fighting game much like Street Fighter, featuring two different game modes: a Scenario Mode where the player competes against a series of CPU-controlled opponents, and a Battle Mode for two players. Each character has two basic attacks (normal and fierce), as well as a set of command-based special moves. When a monster is summoned to fight the Rangers, Rita curiously refers to each one (even the Evil Green Ranger) as her "sweet child" (even though she didn't appear to be very maternal to her minions and monsters in the show).

In the Scenario Mode, the matches consist of two segments: the player will fight against a regular sized monster as one of the rangers during the first segment and after the defeating the monster the first time, they will battle a giant version of the same. Initially, only the five original rangers and their mecha, the Megazord, are available. After completing the second stage, the Green Ranger will become a playable character as well, who controls the Dragonzord.

The scenario mode consists of five stages with the following adversaries in order of appearance:

  • Stage 1: Minotaur
  • Stage 2: Evil Green Ranger (summons the Dragonzord during the Zord battle portion)
  • Stage 3: Madame Woe
  • Stage 4: Goldar
  • Stage 5: Cyclopsis (a two-part Zord-only battle)

In Battle Mode, the player can choose between the six rangers, the three zord mechas, and one of the three monsters in a standard best-two-out-of-three match. The Megazord, the Dragonzord, and Cyclopsis cannot be matched against any of the six rangers and vice-versa with the exception of the Evil Green Ranger who is unlocked with a code, and players cannot both choose the same character. However, there is a special code that can allow this to happen. Like most fighting games, the objective is for both players to fight each other until either one drains the vitality of the other.
