In December 1999, a Game Boy Color port of Catz (also known as Catz - Your Virtual Petz Pals) as well as a companion port of Dogz was released.

Though the game was simply titled Catz, it was not a straight port, displaying more features of Catz II such as Catz being referred to as real-world breeds and the in-game sprites being rotoscoped from the familiar Catz II-and-onward animations.. The illustrations on the box art are taken from the Catz II packaging.
