Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge is a platform game released for the Game Boy in 1991. It is the second Castlevania title for the Game Boy and serves as a sequel to the previous title, Castlevania: The Adventure. Belmont's Revenge gets additional color in the fourth volume of the Konami GB Collection. Set fifteen years after the events of Castlevania: The Adventure, Dracula returns and kidnaps Christopher Belmont's son Soleil at his upcoming birthday party, and turns him into a demon. With Soleil's mystical powers, Dracula regained his human form and rebuilt his castle, forcing Christopher to confront Dracula once more to save his son and Transylvania.
Unlike the previous installment on the Game Boy, secondary weapons in the form of holy water and an ax (or cross in the Japanese version) are available in the game. There are four levels, each taking place in a separate castle with unique themes such as air, plants, earth, and crystals, and can be completed in any order, similar to Mega Man. The game screen often has a very large trap system. The game also uses a password system.
