The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Vol. 1 is a compilation of 4 Jimmy Neutron episodes released on the Game Boy Advance's Game Boy Advance Video format. Nintendo sought to bring popular children's cartoons series, anime, and full length animated movies to the GBA and distributed them on GBA cartridges from 2004 to 2007. GBA Video was meant to compete with VideoNow and other small media players at the time. This format was severely compromised by the 32 bit hardware of the handheld system in addition to the small storage space of the cartridges. GBA Video ran at a 240x160p resolution at a very compressed picture and sound (a combo pack of the Dreamworks movies Shrek and Shark Tale ran at 112p). The videos worked well enough to remain a viable product for the time. A planned second volume would've included Krunch Time, Substitute Creature, Maximum Hugh, and Sleepless in Retroville but however was cancelled alongside other releases due to the poorer sales of the GBA video. The Vol. 1 cart can be played on the GBA, GBA SP, Game Boy Micro, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo DS Lite or on an emulator. It cannot be played on the Game Boy Player accessory for the Nintendo GameCube alongside all other GBA Video carts.
