On February 20th 2003, KCEJ gave their answer to those wishes: Tennis no Oujisama 2003: Passion Red and Cool Blue. An improvement to the first TeniPuri:GBA game in every aspect (Genius Boys Academy), the newer game included more special moves and included the prominent characters from rival schools Fudomine, Yamabuki, St. Rudolph and Hyotei. All these schools were divided into two: half of the Seigaku Regulars, Yamabuki and Hyotei were placed in Passion Red, the other half of the Regulars along with Fudomine and St. Rudolph were put in Cool Blue. This total 31 characters in all.

Unfortunately, either version, Passion Red or Cool Blue, only initially allowed the selection of the Seigaku Regulars, and only the specific half of them on top of that. The remaining characters needed to be unlocked when certain conditions are fulfilled or certain matches are played. Moreover, even though the character profiles in the game listed each player's special moves, there were no instructions on how to use them.
