Tau Ceti, subtitled The Lost Star Colony on North American covers only, is a science fiction vehicle simulation video game on a planet's surface, released in late 1985 for the ZX Spectrum and later for Amstrad CPC, Amstrad PCW, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and MS-DOS from the CRL Group. Featuring first-person shooter mechanics, but with some strategic complexity, it was usually critically acclaimed in 8-bit versions, and was CRL's most profitable game, selling around 35,000 copies in total.
Tau Ceti had a sequel, Academy, released for the same systems, except the Commodore 64, and also for the Amiga.
