Alex Higgin's World Snooker

Alex Higgins' World Snooker was developed by Lindensoft in 1988 for DOS. As the tittle suggests, it's a snooker game. I've played a few virtual snooker games in my time and this one.... ranks poorly.

Just so everyone is clear, the aim of snooker is to gain the most points where all the red balls are worth one and every other ball (besides the cue ball of course) is worth more i.e. yellow = 2, green = 3, brown = 4, blue = 5, pink = 6 and black = 7. A player must first sink a red before sinking another colour and then nominate a colour and sink it, or at least hit it or it is a foul. All fouls award points to their opponent. There are lots more rules for the game but for brevity I will not list them here.

This game is top-down static with the only movement being the snooker balls and the aimer, controlled by the mouse or keyboard (both worth in-game and there is no need to choose). As you start the game, you have an option to choose the language. 0 = English, 1 = Deutsch (German) and 2 = Francais (French). The game then moves to a title screen and, after pressing a key, moves to a screen where you choose whether to have a practise game, your name (and if there is no practise game then player 2's name aswell), how many reds you wish to use and whether you want them numbered. The in-game screen consists of two areas. The first is the scoreboard at the top of the screen and the second is the the actual game consisting of the table and the snookerballs.
