1000 Miglia (also known as Millemiglia and 1000 Miglia volume 1 1927-1933 although no other episodes were ever released) is a Mille Miglia driving simulator for the Amiga, Commodore 64 and MS-DOS, developed in 1991 and published by Simulmondo.
The game reproduces the historic Mille Miglia race in its early years; you can select the editions between 1927 and 1933. At the beginning you choose the car, the driver and the co-driver who will accompany him, each with different skills. The main historic cars that competed in those years are available, with their respective characteristics, and the main historic drivers, with the possibility of also defining new ones, setting their driving skills, resistance, skills as a mechanic and favorite stage.
The driving sequences take place with a third-person three-dimensional view from behind the car, but the dashboard with the on-board instruments is also shown below. The gearbox is a 4-speed manual. The type of routes traversed, often in rough conditions, varies during the race depending on the stage: there are fast flat or Apennine stretches with many ups and downs and curves, snowy, nocturnal or foggy stretches. Both the other cars participating in the race and the trees and other obstacles on the sides of the road must be avoided.
Mechanical breakdowns are frequent along the way, to be repaired on the spot with significant loss of playing time, and it is also necessary to select which spare parts to carry, without which you run the risk of having to abandon the race. The race can be paused at any time to view the progress made in the current stage, and if desired, the driver can be chosen to drive so that the rider can rest. At each stage, the route is shown on a map of Italy with the current weather conditions.
